A CHRONOLOGY OF RAILROAD EVENTS AT CALMAR
1864--First railroad land purchased at Calmar
1866--Line through Calmar from McGregor to Cresco completed
1869--Lines from Calmar to Nora Springs, and Conover to Decorah completed
1880--Line from Jackson Junction to Cedar Rapids completed
1911--10 stall round house built
1912--Fare between Calmar and Decorah raised from 25 cents to 26 cents
1915--Current depot building constructed
1918--Round house demolished in May 9th tornado
1919--New round house completed
1927--The night passenger trains acquire the Sioux name
1952--Last run of the Marquette & Minnesota Marquette, day trains
1953--Alterations made in depot to convert one waiting room to freight room
1954--Round house reduced from ten stalls to two
1960--Passenger train, the Sioux, discontinued
1974--Depot canopy removed
